چکیده
Composite tubular structures have shown promise as energy absorbers in the automobile industry. This paper investigates absorption characteristics of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) tubes with pre-existing holes. Holes may represent an extreme case impact damage that perforates tube, e.g., stones from road surface impacting tubes. Tubes holes more conservative performance characteristics, since same size will residual material, which carry some load. can provide lower limit CFRP tube under axial crushing relative to damaged perforation diameter close hole diameter. In this study, lay-up [05/902/04] one and two defined locations different diameters are experimentally studied quasi-static loading. It was found specific (SEA) reduces by 50% or 15 mm size, 100 top tube. The SEA reduction is about 60% than regular when 20 located at top. most severe occurs if location single double 75 case, a 75% be expected. Results indicate significantly alter capability also clear composite tubes, (100 mm) appears create pronounced effect itself (15 vs. for cases investigated. failure modes seem preserve similar delamination, frond creation, brittle fracture, typically observed due primarily front end crushing, dominates modes, while induced later.

Optimization of infinite composite plates with quasi-triangular holes under in-plane loading
This study used particle swarm optimization (PSO) to determine the optimal values of effective design variables acting on the stress distribution around a quasi-triangular hole in an infinite orthotropic plate. These parameters were load angle, hole orientation, bluntness, fiber angle, and material properties, which were ascertained on the basis of an analytical method used by Lekhnitskii [3]. ...

In this paper, the energy absorption features of tri-layer explosive-welded deep-drawn cups subjected to quasi-static axial compressive loading are investigated numerically and experimentally. To produce the cups, tri-layer blanks composed of aluminum and stainless steel alloys were fabricated by an explosive-welding process and formed by a deep drawing setup. The quasi-static tests were carrie...

This study presents the experimental results for a series of tests on the uniaxial quasi-static crushing of cubical specimens of 50mm side for two species of wood such as Jack wood and Indian Fig. Compression tests were conducted on universal testing machine of 400kN capacity and at a constant deformation rate of 8mm/min. The woods were separately tested in the two principal directions i.e., gr...

Abstract: The Quasi-static mechanical properties of hybrid fiber (steel fiber and Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fiber) reinforced cementitious composites (HFRCC(SP)) were investigated by compressive and tensile experiments. The compressive strength, peak strain, elastic modulus and tensile strength are studied as compared with that of engineered cementitious composite (ECC). Study results indicate th...
